Cllr Mr Malcolm Harris
Malcolm was born and educated in South London. In 1966 Malcolm married Margaret and moved to Rainham in Kent where their first two children were born. In 1973, the family moved to Istead Rise where their third child was born. The move to Hartley came in 1979. Many parishioners know Malcolm through his involvement in the Scouting Movement. He has been the technical director and latterly co producer of the bi-annual Gang Shows. He took over as Chairman of the Longfield & Hartley Scout Group and took on the task of providing them with a new Headquarters. Malcolm has also been active in the PTA's for both Hartley First School and NAG Middle School where he was also a Parent Governor. Malcolm is also the voice behind the Public Address system at the yearly fetes. Malcolm believes that being actively involved in the community is the only way we can effect any change and that, within our village it is quality of life which is paramount to ensuring we enjoy pleasant surroundings, community involvement and privacy when needed. Continued pressure on Sevenoaks District Council is necessary to provide the services we pay for. Malcolm also believes that we must protect our open spaces and provide the facilities for young and old alike. |
