Cllr Mr Brian Ramsay
In 1973 he moved to Manchester to work for the CEGB working on inspection and repairs to nuclear reactors, returning to Gravesend in 1979 to oversee the design and construction of the Facility for Nuclear Engineering at Littlebrook Power Station. He was appointed Head of the Facility in 1983 and stayed there until his retirement. Brian knew Hartley as a quiet area with many local amenities and beautiful countryside all within walking distance. He is a founder member of SHADARA and moved to Hartley in 1998. When Brian discovered high council tax and a need for improved services from Sevenoaks DC, being a believer in not complaining unless you are prepared to do something, he stood for election to both the District and Parish Councils in May 2003 and was elected to both. Brian is committed to keeping Hartley a good place to live in, maintaining the Village envelope, preserving the Green Belt and keeping developments non intrusive. Brian was particularly pleased that together with the help of local road safety campaigners and the Ash Road Working Group he was instrumental in securing the endorsement of Sevenoaks District Council for safety improvements to Ash Road, using a third of the road budget. Brian is concerned that Hartley is in danger of being overshadowed by the Thames Gateway developments, Dartford and Gravesend and of being ignored by Sevenoaks believing that all future healthcare and policing will be in these areas with little left for Hartley. Brian believes that participation is vital as together we can achieve a lot. |
